Weekly update – 11 November 2022
We will remember them
We paused to observe the national two-minute silence at 11am today on our worksites. Lest we forget.
Stylish seating
New seating has been installed on the promenade at Long Curtain Moat! The seating embraces the principle of sustainability, being composed of durable softwood. It will be replicated throughout the Scheme which will provide continuity in style along the seafront. We’ll be removing existing memorial benches throughout future phases of the Scheme and replacing them with the new seating, with memorial plaques replaced in as close as possible to the benches’ original locations.
And…cut!
At Long Curtain Moat, we’ve cut down the steel piles so the limestone and granite flood defences are now fully visible from the sea. The piles were left standing for all this time to protect our workers from the elements while work was underway on the shoreline.
Timber!
We’ve completed removal of the old timber bridge at Long Curtain Moat. In the photo you can see the final part that was removed on 10 November, with wood to be donated to the Cotswold Canal Trust. Next week the new bridge will be installed.
